Last week Twitter announced v1.1 of their API and that in 6 months they will be turning off v1.0.

There have been multiple questions lately about how this change will affect Sponsored Tweets. The engineering team closely follows API changes for anything that may impact our platforms.

Our platforms use various third party APIs (Twitter, Google, Klout, Facebook, …) and changes are something the engineering team continually monitors. We are constantly reading developer documentation, watching for developer announcements, and scanning our own logs for any changes that may impact our platforms. Armed with this data we strive to stay ahead of any changes and react quickly if any issues should arise.

Knowing that there were impending changes to the Twitter API the Engineering team has been implementing updates and adjusting our platforms so that they all work similarly through one interface.

With these preparations we expect the transition to be seamless and to have no impact to our platforms as we roll out updates.
