Professional snowboarder, Gretchen Bleiler, is our newest SponsoredTweets athlete. Known for her extraordinary talents in competitive snowboarding, this Midwestern beauty is no stranger to adventure and thrill. Gretchen discovered her love for the slopes at the tender age of 10, where she eagerly took on 14,000 ft. peaks in grade school shortly after moving from Toledo, Ohio to Aspen, Colorado.
Gretchen’s professional career took off soon after. With an impressive repertoire, she is a 2-time Olympian, Olympic Silver Medalist, 5-time X Games medalist, 4-time X Games Gold Medalist, 2-time US Open Champion, World Cup Champion, World Superpipe Champion and winner of the ESPY Award for Best Female Action Sports Athlete. She was also the first female action sports athlete to appear on the cover of ESPN The Magazine and was even inducted into both the Sportswomen of Colorado and Action Sports Hall of Fame.
This year will be Gretchen’s last shot at an X Games medal, as she will be retiring from competition after this season.
Aside from ruling the the slopes, Gretchen takes pride in her efforts as an entrepreneur and environmentalist. Continuing to make history, she was the first athlete, male or female, to have a Signature Collection of eyewear, outerwear, lifestyle apparel and accessories with Oakley. With all the excitement of living an adventure-filled life, Bleiler enjoys her peaceful down time as well. Crediting snowboarding for introducing her to her love of mediation and teaching, she is now working towards her teacher’s certification in meditation through the Chopra Center.
