Advertiser FAQ

What is Twitter?

Whoa boy. You are probably in a bit over your head. Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send and read each others’ updates, known as tweets. Before you use our service you should head over to Twitter and sign up.

What is Sponsored Tweets?

Sponsored Tweets is a platform that helps you create sponsored conversations on Twitter through a network of thousands of Tweeters. You have to be on Twitter first, so go to their website and sign up.

How do I sign up?

Sponsored Tweets uses Twitter’s O-Auth process to create a connection between our platform and Twitter. To sign up for Sponsored Tweets you simply click here and input your Twitter username and password.

I have a big campaign. Can you help me?

Absolutely. We know that this is a new medium and we are here to help. Give us a call at 1.866.514.1680 x6.

Why do Tweeters have to disclose?

We require disclosure to protect you, the Tweeter and their audience. We believe in WOMMA’s Honesty ROI : Relationship, Opinion, Identity. Without disclosure there is no honesty. Our system helps you ethically engage in sponsored conversations through Twitter while adhering to the legal guidelines set forth by the FTC.

We comply with FTC regulations that state, “When there exists a connection between the endorser and the seller of the advertised product which might materially affect the weight or credibility of the endorsement (i.e., the connection is not reasonably expected by the audience) such connection must be fully disclosed.”

What does disclosure look like?

We provide some basic phrases inside of SponsoredTweets.com to help facilitate disclosure. Tweeters are able to choose from any of the phrases, so long as one of them is included in their tweet. A few examples of disclosure include:

  • “Today’s witty tweets brought to you by ACME Co4″
  • “I would like to thank my sponsor ACME Co”
  • “AD: Save 50% on Acme computers and printers today”

Check out Ted’s Tips on how to disclose for more options.

Can I pick who Tweets for me?

Yes. You have the ability to hand pick the Tweeters that participate in your campaign.

Why are celebrities so expensive?

Celebrities not only have large amounts of followers, their followers are highly engaged. Celebrities tend to have very high Follower Activation Rates. Celebrities can drive huge amounts of traffic and significantly influence purchase decisions.

Who writes the Tweet?

Sponsored Tweets allows the Tweeters to write their own tweets based on instructions from the Advertiser. Messages written by the Tweeter tend to be more authentic and personal, creating a deeper connection with the audience. Tweets written by a Tweeter must be approved by the Advertiser prior to release.

We suggest that Advertisers write the message only when absolutely necessary. This functionality is designed primarily for Advertisers dealing with health or financial products that must adhere to strict advertising guidelines.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards. If you need to use a wire, check or PayPal please give us a call at 866.514.1680 x3.

Advice for Advertisers

I think it’s best to give people the option to write their own tweets even when a prepared tweet is available. It’ll sound more authentic tweeted in the writer’s voice.
