For those participating in the Sponsored Tweets platform, we often run across some common, recurring issues. One we’ve noticed quite frequently is Tweeters publishing their Sponsored Tweets directly from their Twitter account. When taking a Sponsored Tweets Opportunity, it’s clearly stated in your dashboard to not publish the Tweet yourself (see content outlined by blue box below). The message must first be approved by the Advertiser, through Sponsored Tweets, then we’ll publish the Tweet through the system.

What you should see when taking a Sponsored Tweet Opportunity:

Please be sure to read everything very closely when signed-in to your Sponsored Tweets account. Of course, if you have any questions about anything along the way, we’re here to help!

Thanks for the info. I was a little confused when I first started SponsoredTweets but as I got into it a little more it became quite easy.

After reading the info, I was also confused. I find the "Tweet This" button misleading. Instead "Submit for approval" would be more descriptive.

I posted this question at another (previous) blog. But no one answered yet, cuz I guess, the blog is old. Anyways, I'm 3 or 4 days new here, so I just want to clarify one thing--can I retweet what was posted by SponsoredTweets (the ones they already approved for me)? And how? Thanks.

  6. Ashley K. Edwards said on 10.28.10 at 1:10 pm

@April Thanks for the feedback. If this looks like it's something a large amount of people are having an issue with, we'll be sure to take another look at the wording.

  7. Ashley K. Edwards said on 10.28.10 at 1:12 pm

@Michelle If it's a Pay Per Tweet opportunity, you my reTweet; however, you will only get paid for the one time.

If it is a CPC (Cost Per Click) opportunity you should not. This is considered Spammy and that's against our Terms of Service.

@Ashley Thank you for the answer. :)

I agree that it should be submit for approval. Clear for everyone.

Ever since the last Tweeter update, I am notified a tweet is approved and will be tweeted. It never is.
I am then asked to do click watch. That tweet is never tweeted either.
Unless I tweet the approved tweet, it will never be tweeted and zero clicks will be counted. Not good I think for you guys?
Now, If I can no longer tweet the approved tweets (although it still says to do so on the button), then no more ST tweets will be tweeted. I will collect money for nothing. That doesn't seem right.

In addition, when I did my own test, and had 7 people from around the world not just go to the advertised site, but sign up for the offer, only 1 click was recorded in my control panel. Based on other testing, that actually is above average and usually only get credited for 1 in 40-150 clicks recorded. (one tweet was RT'd 38 times by 37 other tweeters of which only one had less than 10 thousand followers and the clicks recorded was zero. Over half a million people got the tweet (less anyone off line) and zero clicks? THAT is pretty much a miracle.
Another service I do tweets for occasionally records 200-300 clicks no matter what I tweet. Rarely hit double digits with ST, so assume your tracking is pretty bad. Don't care for myself, but if the advertiser THINKS no one is clicking, when in fact I KNOW that they are, the advertiser might just stop using the service?
    Just input,

oh well, im new here and i haven't got any offer. so, i don't know how this works yet.

Haven't gotten ANY opps in a few weeks. I wonder what's wrong.

  14. ashley said on 11.1.10 at 8:41 am

@Abby Offers through Sponsored Tweets fluctuate depending on what types of Advertisers are using the system, and what their needs are from Publishers. Hang tight and they'll come to you!

In the meantime, are you using keywords to help Advertisers find you? Are you marketing yourself to help build your Followers, so as to have a more appealing audience to Advertisers?

  15. ashley said on 11.1.10 at 8:42 am

@rona07 Simply wait for Advertisers to make you an offer...if you're a fit for what they're looking for.

As it appears to be the button to push "Tweet". I need to read better. I know there is filtering, I thought it meant, "...don't copy and paste it, and tweet this..."
I get a message, "this has not been sent, but will be sent once ... looks at it and decides...I am feeling confused as well.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING OUT WHAT ADVERTISERS ARE DOING???!!!???

TOO MANY ADS ARE REQUIRING US TO DISPLAY THE ADVERTISERS' WEBSITE URL. THIS MEANS THE CPC TWEETS ARE WORTHLESS TO US AS TWEETERS BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN CLICK ON THE WEBSITE INSTEAD OF THE "SPONSORED LINK" AND WE DON'T ANY REVENUE FOR THE TWEET!!!

THESE ADVERTISERS ARE CHEAP TO BEGIN WITH AS THE ONES DEMANDING THEIR WEBSITE BE BROADCAST ARE ONLY OFFERING 2-CENTS A CLICK ANYWAY, BUT BY REQUIRING THEIR WEBSITE BE INCLUDED THEY GET TOTALLY ---> FREE <--- ADS TWEETED!

IF ADVERTISERS ARE GOING TO CONTINUE DOING THIS THEY NEED TO PAY UP-FRONT FOR THE TWEET PLUS CPC FOR ANY CLICKS!

I agree with this post COMPLETELY. As well as the post by Mike. Mainly because I have used other services that require clicks/views for ads, and I've never had a problem getting my followers to even check out the ads that I post. It seems pretty fishy that my CPC reports come in at 1-2 clicks. Is there a way to follow up on that?

  27. L Johnverrell said on 11.6.10 at 12:31 am

Wow. That person needs a hug or something. Anyway, I'm an advertiser and was wondering if there were any problems with the system. None of my cpc programs are generating any clicks for my tweeters but it says that I am having traffic come to the site from them.

  28. Lilly said on 11.6.10 at 11:34 pm

Do tweeters earn revenue from posting sponsored tweets, from having people click on the links to the advertiser's website, or from people adding the tweets as favorites?

  29. David Graves said on 11.7.10 at 5:47 am

Just a quick question. Can you retweet the sponsored link many times?

  30. Kris said on 11.7.10 at 5:23 pm

What if no a cpc ad it is retweeted? I can't control who retweets the tweet and then from there?

  31. ashley said on 11.8.10 at 10:19 am

@Guide Advertisers approve their sponsored Opportunities. They have up to three (3) days to approve Tweets - if they don't within the three-day period, the Tweet automatically goes live in the Tweeter's stream.

Also, the Advertiser can include any url they'd like, which is typically the sponsored link. So not quite sure what "THE CPC TWEETS ARE WORTHLESS TO US AS TWEETERS BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN CLICK ON THE WEBSITE INSTEAD OF THE “SPONSORED LINK” AND WE DON’T ANY REVENUE FOR THE TWEET!!!" is referring to. As a Tweeter, you have the option of refusing any offer; you don't have to accept any offers that won't be relevant to your audience, or you don't feel is valuable in terms of earnings.

  32. ashley said on 11.8.10 at 10:23 am

@DonPennington.info You can deactivate your account, if you'd like. Simply sign-in to your account, click on the ''my account" tab, and then select the "deactivate my account" button.

Also, we always welcome feedback from our Community; however, because the language in your comments is a bit inappropriate we are going to delete them.

  33. ashley said on 11.8.10 at 10:26 am

@Lilly Tweeters earn revenue from taking sponsored "Opportunities" (aka, "Opps"). This can be a "Pay Per Tweet" Opp or a "Cost Per Click" Opp. A Tweeter does not earn money for being favorited by an Advertiser.

  34. ashley said on 11.8.10 at 10:27 am

@David Of course you can! However, you are only paid for the first time the Tweet is published (for "Pay Per Tweet" Opps), and for valid clicks ("Cost Per Click" Opps). Please be aware, too, that for CPC Opportunities, reTweeting can be considered spammy.

  35. ashley said on 11.8.10 at 10:27 am

@Kris Not really sure what you're asking here.

I've gone over the "how to disclose" part several times, but I'm still not getting which one to pick for the tweet I'm doing.

Is it up to us to decide if the #ad will go at the end of our tweet, or brought to you by...?!?

I've been doing all of them as "sponsored"----is that wrong?

  39. Ashley K. Edwards said on 11.12.10 at 10:47 am

@chryss67 Have you taken a look at this page: http://sponsoredtweets.com/about/help/teds-tips/how-to-disclose/? We actually provide various options of disclosure, since all Tweeters have their own preferences for presenting disclosure. The only two forms of disclosure that must go at the beginning of the sponsored Tweet are "Advertisement" and "AD" - all of the others can be placed wherever you'd like.

Is there a way to become a 'featured Tweeter' on the sponsortweets site? If so, how is it done? Is the tweeter handpicked or is there another method? Thank you in advance.

  41. ashley said on 11.18.10 at 9:44 am

@Marge Are you referring to the directory? You must have at least 100 Followers in order to show-up there. Is that you?

  42. Aakash said on 11.20.10 at 1:20 am

On Sunday afternoon/evening (when in Brookens Library @ UIS) I posted a comment here, with an important question. Could you please check your spam filter, to see if it perhaps went in there (and could you then approve it)? I'm thinking that others may also have the same question.

    Thanks!

I am coming to believe that this "sponsored tweets" needs some revamping - this really needs a help tutorial that has specific guide lines (eg.do this first..do this second..Don't do this!) - from the post that i have been reading - not many people that are signing up understand what to do - also - the CPC/CPT thing is really confusing??? - probably just as much so for the advertiser as the tweeter - lastly - i don't know if advertisers are backing away from this site - but I also have not seen offers for quite sometime - :( - "just sayin...")

  44. Ashley K. Edwards said on 1.4.11 at 4:44 pm

@Jwsl1luv Thanks for your feedback - we always welcome our Community to share their thoughts with us. Let's see if we can address a few of your comments:

What sort of tutorial did you have in mind? We have a pretty robust "Tweeters" section on SponsoredTweets.com, with a "How it Works" page and FAQs. Our Support Forums (http://getsatisfaction.com/izea) are also filled with Community members that are always up for and willing to answer questions and help out.

With regard to CPC/CPT, the Opportunities will always be listed separately from one another in a user's account. The Cost Per Tweet Opps will be listed first, with the Cost Per Click Opps immediately below. If you don't see anything in your account then are currently are no Opportunities available.

Pertaining to offers, the holidays/end of the year is typically slower for most businesses as they are planning for the coming year, wrapping up budgets, and taking time off to spend with family and friends.

Hope some of this helped clear-up any confusion or misunderstandings about the system. Let us know if you have any additional feedback.

I'm new to using this service. I have posted 13 opps to over 62,000 followers and not showing not one click. Something is wrong here. I can post my own website that is tracked and show hundreds of clicks. Something is fishy. Feel like I'm advertising for someone for free.
