CPC went out on SponsoredTweets a little more than a month ago, and we got some great feedback from the community on what was and wasn’t working with it. There were some things, though, that we really missed the ball on when designing the system, and this release aims to fix many of those shortcomings.

Tweeters

Dedicated, Guaranteed Earnings for CPC

This is the biggest, bestest feature for this release, but to wrap our heads around the change, helps to know how the system worked before. As a Tweeter, if you took a CPC opp, we put some money on hold for you to make. If, historically you’ve received 5 clicks per tweet, then we’ll put 5 clicks worth of funds on hold for you to earn. Simple enough. Only we made a misjudgment on the details. We created a single, collective hold account for all tweeters taking this opportunity, so each person was drawing from the same hold bucket. If your clicks came in before mine you could earn all the money that was put on hold for me (and potentially other people too), and I’ll earn nothing.

Initially we thought it would all even out since someone gets paid on the deal — but this just isn’t fair for the people who don’t get clicks. Instead, we’ve created a separate “hold” account for each offer you take. You’ll have 3 days from when your tweet goes out to make (in this case) those 5 clicks. If you don’t we’ll refund the money to the advertiser and it’ll be used to payout other people who ended up getting more clicks than expected. If you opt to tweet out this message again, you’ll get another (in this case) 5 clicks worth of funds, and another 3 days to earn it.

What this guarantees is that if we say you’re going to make $10, the only thing limiting you from making that $10 is whether you get clicks or not. We’re very excited to roll this out, and hope it relieves people who were previously concerned they might make nothing on a Tweet if their clicks didn’t come in fast enough. If you have an existing offer out already, it’s been converted to this method already, so you should start seeing your clicks even out immediately.

Show Hidden Opps

As a Tweeter, if you hid CPC Opps, you didn’t have a way to show them before. Now there’s an option to show these. If you hide all of your opps, you’ll get a message with a link to see them.

Better Details on Completed CPC Opps

Completed CPC Opps are very much different than completed CPT Opps. With CPT you’re paid out within, at most, a few days of your Tweet (less if you don’t have ClickWatch enabled). But with CPC, you’re payed out 30 days after your Tweet goes out. If you Tweet something multiple times though, we were only showing the payout date on your most recent Tweet. Now, we show your payout dates for each Tweet on CPC Offers that you send out.

Advertisers

Close CPC Opp

Closing CPC Opps is a tough issue, because there’s just so much going on. We didn’t make it easy enough for Advertisers to close an entire opp if they wanted to stop it immediately. We’ve added a new “Close Opp” option for CPC Opps that allows just this. It will cancel all pending offers, as well as those sent for review. It will also archive the opp, removing making it unviewable by Tweeters.

What it won’t do is cancel Tweets/Offers that have already gone out. If a Tweet was approved and Tweeted, that Tweeter will still have 3 days to earn the money they expected to earn. If the Tweet hasn’t ever gone out, however, the funds are returned to the opportunity, and can then be returned to the Advertiser using the “Reallocate Funds” tool.

As usual we fixed various bugs and upgraded things behind the scenes as well, so we’re expecting the site to be a little snappier too.
