About Jessica

I’m a Mommy Blogger. I don’t always talk about parenting, but I always see the world through a mother’s lens. My hope is that I can help women to be more confident. The women online are typically searching for connections and solutions; by default they are bright and interested. My friend Rick Goings told me that the way to succeed is to find a great parade and walk in front of it. This is my parade.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

Before Twitter had two vowels (Twittr) I was reading Amie’s blog and she had a Twitter stream in her sidebar. I didn’t quite understand it at first, but I watched for several months and clicked through on a few tweets.

What do you tweet about?

I tweet about my daily life here in Los Angeles. I have kids and a husband, and a ton of amazing girlfriends, so there’s always something to share. I love listening in on other folks and connecting with people. I’m pretty enthusiastic about marketing and campaigns, so I’ve been known to talk about marketing and social media, too. It’s like any cocktail party; I talk about whatever the folks in the group are talking about.

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter put me in many of our nation’s largest newspapers, for better and sometimes for worse. The Twitter community has been tremendous and I’ve made connections with women I’d otherwise never have met.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

I think it has the ability to deliver a tremendous value to advertisers, and social media is my business. It’s a marriage that should be sustainable.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

Get ready; every move you make will be scrutinized, but with any luck they’ll spell your name right.

About Alli

I’m a stay-at-home mom in Chattanooga, TN. I have a wonderful husband and two boys (4 years old and 5 months) who keep me very busy. On top of the home stuff (you know, the stay-at-home stuff) I like to mix things up by blogging, shooting digital photography, and traveling. I’m gearing up for my first year as a homeschool mom, which has me very excited for the new school year and looking for support in all kinds of places.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

Quite a few blogs I read were posting things like, “You can check out my Twitter here or on my sidebar.” I checked it out and it looked like an interesting “extra” piece of their internet personalities. I signed up but didn’t really get going with Twitter until I figured out how to post from my cell phone.

What do you tweet about?

I used to see Twitter as something like “DVD extras.” It would give readers a little bit more about my daily life or thoughts in a 140 character format. I tweet mundane stuff (yes, I tweet about breakfast) and have conversations with others in my Twitter Stream. I love to tweet when we travel — if not to keep my mom up to date on my current location, to help me remember interesting things along the way.

How has Twitter changed your life?

When I discovered @ replies and began developing relationships with the people I follow, it really changed how I tweet. By finding people to follow in my areas of interest, I was able to have instant access to advice and build community regarding parenthood, traveling, photography, my hometown, and entertainment. It’s difficult to commiserate on the difficulties of newborn sleep cycles with my four-year-old. With Twitter, I can tweet my frustration and get plenty of support and advice in minutes. It was through Twitter that I was able to be featured on the Today Show as a Digital Mom.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

Since Sponsored Tweets is an Izea property, I was familiar with the people behind the program, which made me feel very comfortable signing up. I signed up to see if it would be a viable income stream. So far, it has been a pleasant experience that I can customize to fit my style and interests.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

I think advertisers should always give tweeters the option of writing their own tweets. It helps with transparency, authenticity, and relationship-building to let me write my own words for your product or website.

About Heather

I am a Mom turned professional blogger who dishes daily about products I love, vlogs (video blogs), money-saving tips, and how-to tricks for a domesticated life.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

I started Twitter before Twitter was popular back in 2006. I guess you could call me a Twitter-vet.

What do you tweet about?

My daily happenings, blog issues, deals, money saving opportunities, great products, digital finds, etc.

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter has opened so many doors that it is impossible to count. Connecting with PR and major companies are the highlight of my day as well as connecting with those who share my digital passion.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

I have a growing and ever-replying Twitter following and believe that this could be a great asset to a company. So many companies contact me on a regular basis; I know the need for Twitter advertising is there, as more a more people look to social media as a way to find out the latest trends on- and offline.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

Don’t under estimate the impact of social media.

About Jim

I’m a Web entrepreneur who loves to teach other people how to be successful online. I also speak professionally and am in the process of writing two books.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

Found out through a friend, Sam Harrelson, back in 2007.

What do you tweet about?

Mostly I tweet out links to information I find valuable so that other people can hopefully find it valuable, too.

How has Twitter changed your life?

It has grown my network bigger and faster than I could have done without it, that’s for sure. I’ve been blogging since 2001 and Twitter has allowed me to build a network five times as big as my blog audience in less than two years.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

I’m on the advisory board for IZEA and I believe that this is a product that is worth looking into. At the end of the day, social media is just another form of media. We should explore all options, even monetization. Anyone can always unfollow a tweeter instantly with the click of a button.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

Influence matters.

About Chris

I’m a Web design specialist, trainer, author, event planner, speaker and more. I love all things Web design and how the Web and underlying Internet technologies help shape our lives for the better.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

I heard about Twitter in December of 2006 through the people who invented it.

What do you tweet about?

I tweet about Web design issues, the conferences I speak at, current news stories with my own personal spin, and I always attempt the humorous one-liner here and there.

How has Twitter changed your life?

I don’t think Twitter changes or usurps my life. It simply enhances it.

For example, as the owner of a company where we work virtually and remotely, Twitter acts as my work water cooler of sorts: sharing stories and cool tips, but also letting me see how my friends and family are doing throughout the day.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

To see if there is a common ground for advertisers and my audience.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

You are investing in a billboard with a short attention span. This is the closest, most sustained parallel to Max Headroom’s blipverts yet. Finally, advertisers entering sponsored Twitter conversations can’t afford to be anything less than authentic.

I’m the Chief Inspiration Officer at SalesBy5 – http://www.salesby5.com, a marketing and consulting group and blog for numerous sites, primarily www.blackberrycool.com, a BlackBerry enthusiast blog.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

I saw people tweeting during the Wireless Enterprise Symposium in Orlando in 2008. It was fascinating that there were so many people experiencing the same event with different perspectives and sharing them on Twitter. I wanted to be a part of the conversation.

What do you tweet about?

I typically tweet about business and technology, especially having to do with BlackBerry and mobile devices. If I think the tweet has value, is funny or interesting, I share it.

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter has been amazing. My readership has dramatically increased on the different blogs that I write on and has allowed me to connect with amazing people in real life, as well. The largest change, though, came when I introduced Twitter to my church. @imaginechurch now does live tweeting during the service and we were recognized as one of the 25 churches reshaping the American church in the US in Outreach magazine. The life change that people experience is dramatic and the fear of going to church without knowing anyone has been removed.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

Sponsored tweets are acceptable in my view when the proper disclosure is made and the tweets are about items or services that I believe in and would promote anyway.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

Do something compelling and remarkable. Your sponsored tweets will be retweeted because people WANT to remark about the things that are remarkable.

About Robin

I’m a 40-something mom to two teens & a tween, married to my college sweetheart.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

I learned about Twitter through blogging friends.

What do you tweet about?

Tweets are not niche specific i.e.:

Links to noteworthy posts (others and my own)

Humor

Links to articles (primarily of interest to parents, but also of interest to bloggers, social media enthusiasts, etc.)

Contests & giveaways

Great finds/deals from national or local retailers (i.e. Target’s 75% off sale, free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, etc.)

Inspiring quotes

Quick conversations among friends

Slices of the minutia of my life

Responses to questions posted by others

Questions I need a quick answer to or a variety of opinions

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter has changed my life for the good (immediate feedback, broadening of my blog’s readership, FABULOUS opportunities IRL, news before it breaks, ease of information dissemination) and for the bad (I comment to fewer blogs now and respond via Twitter instead…it can suck time if I’m not careful).

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

I signed up for Sponsored Tweets to use a vehicle I believe in (Twitter) to support sponsors who I’m willing to lend my voice to if I think it’s of interest or value to those who follow me…and get paid a bit for my 140 characters of real estate .

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

I think it’s best to give people the option to write their own tweets, even when a prepared tweet is available. It’ll sound more authentic tweeted in the writer’s voice.

About Tamar

I’m a freelance writer and internet marketing consultant specializing in blogger outreach, viral marketing, and social media. I am also the author of “The New Community Rules: Marketing on the Social Web” (O’Reilly, 2009) which covers the subject of social media marketing. I am based in New York City where I live with my husband and baby son.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

I’m an early adopter, and I’ve been on Twitter since December 2006 from the initial buzz the service had been getting back then. Since I hate to let a username like “tamar” go to waste, I jumped on the opportunity to secure my account as soon as possible, but I also found that it was a service that offered a lot more than just that cool username.

What do you tweet about?

For the most part, I share social media tidbits and small business tips and tricks. But I became a first-time mom in May, so I started sharing bits and pieces about my son as well. I also just published a book (also my first) and have been responding to the buzz about it on Twitter. And of course, if there’s anything odd and interesting going on with my life, I’ll tweet about it too.

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter has opened doors to some great opportunities. I’ve connected with influencers, met some amazing people (in person, thanks to the beauty of Twitter and DMs), and discovered new content and ideas.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

With Twitter not being able to monetize itself from what we know, it’s good that users can monetize the service!

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

Besides having users just support your brands/products, start networking with potential customers by using Twitter search to find people interested in you.

About Karen J

I’m a deep-fried southern Social Media Maniac who was very social before social media even came along! I’m all over the social sphere, assist clients with social media and social networking, and deliver tips and resources to improve one’s social experience and exposure via social platforms. Instead of reading the morning newspaper over coffee, I read my Google reader that’s full of social, technology and marketing news! (I even think about social media when I’m grocery shopping!)

How did you first find out about Twitter?

I signed up and reviewed it a few years ago for a client…well before it was anything like it is today. Most people had never heard of it and it’s insane uses had not even been thought of! I *heart* Twitter!

What do you tweet about?

Social media, social networking, internet marketing, technology, things I find interesting or funny, great finds from people I follow or find via Twitter search, tips and tricks, and a bit about myself and what’s going on my head at any given time!

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter has enhanced my connections greatly. It has connected me to some brilliant people, networking associates, clients, potential JV partners, allowed me to find great resources in real-time, and allowed me to share my own finds and thoughts with an interested following. I’ve made some fabulous connections with some great marketers and bloggers as well as just some fun people!

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

Because I have to stay on top of my social media game! And it looks very interesting; it was obvious this type of platform would eventually be unrolled and I’m very interested in seeing how it goes.

I also provide social media assistance and implementation to people, brands and small businesses so I’d like to see if this would be a good fit for people.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

Remember that the world will talk about you- whether or not that talk is positive or negative will depend on you. Understand that Social Media is an amazing asset to your company if properly utilized. Twitter’s reach is INSANE and people are going to rely on it more and more for various things including it’s real-time search function and finding leads to what they’re looking for. This is your real-time billboard, shine bright!
