The women online are typically searching for connections and solutions; by default they are bright and interested. How did you first find out about Twitter?

Before Twitter had two vowels (Twittr) I was reading Amie’s blog and she had a Twitter stream in her sidebar. I didn’t quite understand it at first, but I watched for several months and clicked through on a few tweets.

What do you tweet about?

I tweet about my daily life here in Los Angeles. I have kids and a husband, and a ton of amazing girlfriends, so there’s always something to share. I love listening in on other folks and connecting with people. I’m pretty enthusiastic about marketing and campaigns, so I’ve been known to talk about marketing and social media, too. It’s like any cocktail party; I talk about whatever the folks in the group are talking about.

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter put me in many of our nation’s largest newspapers, for better and sometimes for worse. The Twitter community has been tremendous and I’ve made connections with women I’d otherwise never have met.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

I think it has the ability to deliver a tremendous value to advertisers, and social media is my business. It’s a marriage that should be sustainable.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

Get ready; every move you make will be scrutinized, but with any luck they’ll spell your name right.

How did you first find out about Twitter?

Quite a few blogs I read were posting things like, “You can check out my Twitter here or on my sidebar.” I checked it out and it looked like an interesting “extra” piece of their internet personalities. I signed up but didn’t really get going with Twitter until I figured out how to post from my cell phone.

What do you tweet about?

I used to see Twitter as something like “DVD extras.” It would give readers a little bit more about my daily life or thoughts in a 140 character format. I tweet mundane stuff (yes, I tweet about breakfast) and have conversations with others in my Twitter Stream. I love to tweet when we travel — if not to keep my mom up to date on my current location, to help me remember interesting things along the way.

How has Twitter changed your life?

When I discovered @ replies and began developing relationships with the people I follow, it really changed how I tweet. By finding people to follow in my areas of interest, I was able to have instant access to advice and build community regarding parenthood, traveling, photography, my hometown, and entertainment. It’s difficult to commiserate on the difficulties of newborn sleep cycles with my four-year-old. With Twitter, I can tweet my frustration and get plenty of support and advice in minutes. It was through Twitter that I was able to be featured on the Today Show as a Digital Mom.

Why did you sign up for Sponsored Tweets?

Since Sponsored Tweets is an Izea property, I was familiar with the people behind the program, which made me feel very comfortable signing up. I signed up to see if it would be a viable income stream. So far, it has been a pleasant experience that I can customize to fit my style and interests.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

I think advertisers should always give tweeters the option of writing their own tweets. It helps with transparency, authenticity, and relationship-building to let me write my own words for your product or website.

I tweet about Web design issues, the conferences I speak at, current news stories with my own personal spin, and I always attempt the humorous one-liner here and there.

How has Twitter changed your life?

I don’t think Twitter changes or usurps my life. It simply enhances it.

For example, as the owner of a company where we work virtually and remotely, Twitter acts as my work water cooler of sorts: sharing stories and cool tips, but also letting me see how my friends and family are doing throughout the day.

To see if there is a common ground for advertisers and my audience.

What is one piece of advice you would give to our advertisers?

You are investing in a billboard with a short attention span. This is the closest, most sustained parallel to Max Headroom’s blipverts yet. Finally, advertisers entering sponsored Twitter conversations can’t afford to be anything less than authentic.

I typically tweet about business and technology, especially having to do with BlackBerry and mobile devices. If I think the tweet has value, is funny or interesting, I share it.

How has Twitter changed your life?

Twitter has been amazing. My readership has dramatically increased on the different blogs that I write on and has allowed me to connect with amazing people in real life, as well. The largest change, though, came when I introduced Twitter to my church. @imaginechurch now does live tweeting during the service and we were recognized as one of the 25 churches reshaping the American church in the US in Outreach magazine. The life change that people experience is dramatic and the fear of going to church without knowing anyone has been removed.

Sponsored tweets are acceptable in my view when the proper disclosure is made and the tweets are about items or services that I believe in and would promote anyway.

Remember that the world will talk about you- whether or not that talk is positive or negative will depend on you. Understand that Social Media is an amazing asset to your company if properly utilized. Twitter’s reach is INSANE and people are going to rely on it more and more for various things including it’s real-time search function and finding leads to what they’re looking for. This is your real-time billboard, shine bright!
